Well, that explains that then.

A few weeks ago, I'd received a handwritten check for $50 in the mail, addressed to me, made payable to me, from some unknown person with an unfamiliar handwritten address out of state. The handwriting was an elderly white woman's so I thought maybe someone confused me with their grandchild and I set the check aside and didn't cash it. Turns out I have won second place in a photo contest and that was my prize. I also won honorable mention in a separate category but that was for glory only, no personal check. Whoo hoo!
