I loves me some afros

This doll's default outfit is a bathing suit which did not suit her at all. Why would anyone want to get such fabulous hair wet or chlorinated? I wanted her to wear something form fitting with a pencil skirt and fitted waist but I had nothing for her to wear, nothing. Pathetic.

So I decided to at least make her a dress and cross my fingers and hoped it worked.


It's a knitted dress but I liked the purl side better so I turned it inside out. Then I decided it looked too plain, so I made a flower with beads in the middle which you can't see, so instead, it looks like a big piece of fluff on her shoulder. Then I thought, it still looks plain, so I made a belt as well.


Pattern: The fitted mini dress from Barbie Basics Knit Patterns with some additional increases to make it more fitted, more of a wiggle skirt which is a term I do not like using so I will refer to it by it's proper name, pencil skirt, okay.
Yarn: Joann's Sensations Bamboo and Ewe in charcoal grey for most of it, Rowan Kidsilk Haze for the fluffy bits.
Needles: US2 for the bodice, switched to US 3 from underbust on down. Steel hook size 7 for the fluff.
Notes: Closes in back with a button and I should have used 3s throughout if I was so impatient.
