Super bun bun

Monday night, I decided to make a small pink bunny. I did not have any more of the Karabella yarn so while I was at Jo-Ann's (yes, I had to go crawling back since both of my local yarn stores are closed on Mondays), I picked up a skein of DMC cotton perle 5, which is, I think, tapestry-weight embroidery thread.

When I got home, I realized it would drive me mad to crochet something that small, so I decided to knit it instead, thinking it shouldn't take that long since it was only going to be a long tube, essentially. It didn't turn out that way. I made the head, then the body, then while I was doing the body, I decided to do a second head. While I was making the legs, I thought I should include wire in them so they stood up better but I was too lazy to go and find my wire, which had migrated from its normal resting spot. So, around 2 a.m., probably closer to 3, I finished most of it and had sewn it all together, everything was done as separate pieces. I had to crochet the ears because I wasn't sure how to do the shaping with knitting and I got down to the last little dregs of thread. For the last ear, I actually had to tie two scrap pieces of thread together to finish off the last bit of it.

I finished the rest of it last night, adding eyes and a tail and putting on the faces. It was sort of a rush since I wasn't too crazy about how shiny it came out and I didn't really have a plan for the faces. I wanted to use felt but it was too thick and I didn't have plastic eyes small enough. Even buttons seemed too oversized.

Yarn: DMC Cotton Perle 5
Needles: US 0, crochet hook size 5
Pattern: None. I think 24 stitches for the heads at the widest point and 10 stitches for the body at the widest point. 5 for the legs, 4 for the arms.
Notes: Too shiny. I added a jabot because it looked rather bare.
