This week in photos

A boring week with brief interludes of surrealism which I at first attributed to sleep deprivation, so I started taking photos to see if any of it was real.

I pulled out of the underground parking garage at work and saw this monster on my windshield. At first, I thought it was inside my car so I rolled all the windows down and cringed in the corner. After a couple of blocks, I realized it was outside and might fly inside so I rolled the windows back up. This moth DID NOT FLY AWAY. It just sat there, on my windshield, the entire way home. It wasn't stuck on anything, it just sat there, whipping its wings out once or twice to steady itself when I drove fast. Granted, it was all streets during rush-ish hour so the fastest I could have gone was 35 but still, what kind of supermoth doesn't fly off or squish from the air smooshing it against the glass?

It finally flew off by the time I got home, probably to nest beneath the eaves and develop a colony of super-bee-moths.

I saw this last week and thought I had to be mistaken and even if I wasn't, surely their gardener or some shiftless youths would have destroyed it. But no, still growing.

Big ass feral tomato plant in front of an office building, probably the result of someone tossing their sandwich into the rat ivy. I can't grow tomatoes even with constant monitoring and space age soil amendments and this fucker is already producing fruit. Asshole plant.
