Postman Pat

This year's Lent is not going well. I gave up meat and yesterday I ate a hot dog. I know a hot dog barely qualifies as "meat" from a USDA standard but even hooves and snouts come from an animal so that was just wrong.

I am amazed, absolutely a-mazed at the breadth of food choices for Lenteny people this time around. I normally also give up fast food, and since the only non-meat options were either gross wilted salads or the Filet-O-Fish, it wasn't all that hard. But now, everyone's getting in on the act! Carl's and Jack in the Box have fish sandwiches and most amazingly, Taco Bell has options. They have a sign up directing people to their non-flesh choices and inform them/me, that any item can be made without meat upon request for Lent. Says right there on the sign "LENT." I expected outrage from various other religions but so far nothing. I suspect it's because they aren't really advertising it, there were no press releases or commercials or print ads. There's only smallish signs on the physical stores.

The strangest of all though was this:

They take their regular food, remove the meat logs and replace it with a fish stick. Brilliant!
