I hear the secrets that you keep

These are the two dresses I'd made for Peregrine to wear at the meet with her lovely tulle set. Yeah, they didn't work out really but I like the funny shapes.

The one on Limonata on the right is the one in the too-thick yarn and Peregrine's on the left is obviously the one with the too big neck, which the tulle collar did well disguising.

Peregrine's dress
Yarn: Red Heart Heart & Sole in black. (I'm guessing it's a sock yarn based on that name)
Needles: US3, size 5 crochet hook for trim on hem.
Pattern: Mainly MissMisanthrope's Lati Dress pattern.
Modifications to pattern: Increases were done as K2, incr1; then K3, incr 1. Penultimate row was K4, incr1. Edging for hem is a crochet shell border. Sleeves were increased to double original count for a few rows then abruptly decreased back to original count before casting off. I'm not sure what happened with the neck there.

Peregrine's beret
Yarn: Coats and Clark TLC Amoré
Hook: Either H or I since that's what's out.
Pattern: None really. Ch 45, join; DC around for 2-3 rows, I think; sc2, incr1 around; work even for like 3 inches I guess; sc4, decr1; sc3, decr1; sc2, decr1; sc1, decr1; decr1 until there's only four or five sc left then gather and draw together.

Limonata's Dress
Yarn: Moda Dea Washable Wool in black.
Needles: US5.
Pattern: Miss Misanthrope's Lati Dress pattern.
Modifications to pattern: Bodice was K2, incr1; K2, incr1 then possibly a K4, incr1. Worked even until about 8 rows before, then K3, decr1; P; K1, incr1; K2, incr1; K even; P; cast off. I think. Something along those lines, I didn't write it down.

This I just liked. I want to make this my business card.

It reminds me of a House of Mystery story I'd read. An orphan boy is adopted by a family of fishermen. One night, the boy becomes convinced that his rocker (that's in the shape of a boat) is the only thing that stands between life and death and if he stops rocking on it, he will die. There were at least two full pages of this boy getting more and more insane looking and sweating and panicking, interspersed with panels of his foster father adrift in a little dinghy in a storm after his boat capsizes. Morning comes and the father washes ashore, tired but alive and his dinghy has a giant hole in it that should have sunk it. At the same time, the little boy is found on the floor next to his boat-rocker, dead of a heart attack.
