OK, this is totally an example of when to use self-striping yarn

I understand the concept of cozies. Yarnworkers have an almost pathological need to make knit or crochet coverings for everything and this extends to food. Fruit cozies might actually work to keep your fruit from being smashed or bruised whilst in your bag. Highly unlikely but possible. Certainly a hard container would be ideal or even recommended but okay, fine. Fruit cozy.

This is from Classic Elite Yarns, an apple cozy crocheted out of a linen/wool/alpaca blend. See, it's kind of a red color because it's an apple. I've seen other examples that include a leaf or stem for embellishment.



This is the pear cozy.


And this... this is for the banana. I saw that in the newsletter and burst out laughing.

I will not be adding these to my Ravelry queue although one could always download the pattern for these if one had a lot of cold fruit.
