Ash Wednesday
The first day of Lent. I will again go the deprivation route: no chocolate, meat or drive-throughs of any kind. Also, no eBay. I couldn't give up online shopping entirely as I have pre-orders but I need to learn. TC is going the "forced activity" route and will go to the 7 a.m. Mass every morning, and I mean every morning, seven days a week.
That sounds more harsh than simply giving up stuff so I will try to finish all of my outstanding and long-promised projects by the end of February at least. There's a lot of you people I owe stuff to, sorry. I will try to make one new tangible thing a week too, on top of all the other stuff.
I thought about giving up coffee and sugar but I am armed and I didn't think it was a good idea for the rest of the population.

Happy Chinese New Year. I saw one lady on campus with an ash smeared on her forehead and realized it was another holiday too. No chocolate. I couldn't do it. No meat? No drive-thru? This is good! Pass that Valentine's candy over here please!
