In your FACE!

Five years ago, I decided to grow grapes. My local nurseryman told me to forget it, they could not be grown in containers (I live in an apartment). He was right about the Thompson grapes. That vine was moved to Reseda where it is living happily. I kept the Red Flame Seedless because even if it didn't produce, it did a bang-up job shading one of the front windows.

Well, it took me five years, but by gum, I did it! Last year, I had two bunches. This year, I pruned back my vine, or thought I had. I missed two branches and lo and behold, my vine went ahead without me and started shooting them off! I didn't even realize it until my neighbor grabbed me (literally) and pointed them out. I have FIVE bunches. Five. Hot dang, that's almost enough for a glass of juice.

I have yet to buy my Green Zebra tomatoes for the year or any other garden plants. I would very much like to install a drip-irrigation system but the complex's turn-of-the-century plumbing does not allow for it. That will be my project now, a self-watering system. Yeah, we'll see how that goes.
