Annie Modesitt!

First of all, never underestimate traffic. Never, never, never. I thought it would take less than 90 minutes to drive fifteen miles. So stupid of me! It took me 2 hours to drive to Burbank which made me late for the class and an all around dork. Plus, I decided to cheap out and take some Simply Soft with me. No, wrong. Even Ms. Modesitt commented on what crappy yarn it was for lace ("But it's only to practice on, so it's okay!"). But I finally managed to make lace! I kinda followed a chart! It was an interesting experience, for some reason 50% of the class could not get the hang of "bring yarn to front" when slipping a stitch, which was what the pattern required. It created a sort of i-cord edging that was very nice. Mine came out lopsided. And I learned to make cables without using a cable needle, isn't that exciting? I don't use a cable needle anyway because they're too fiddly (I use a dpn) but I think I'll use this technique more and more.

I was almost to the freeway when I realized that I did not have my camera with me. Since I was so late, I could not stop home for it so I had to go on without it, phooey.

It was an excellent class, with a lot of tough love for good measure. And the proprietress of Unwind was super-nice. I might even go back there, although it is 2 hours out of my way.

I brought Pegeen in after all, since she was too afraid to be left alone in the car at night. My plans for having a photo of her knitting with Annie Modesitt were dashed, but I did manage one truly crappy photo.
